Golf Tournament – Buhl, Idaho

The Fall Golf Classic in Buhl, Idaho was a total success. Jim Ridgway coordinated a wonderful event. Records were set with 116 golfers participating and 29 teams. This was a scramble style tournament  with closest to the pin, long drive, and a  putting and chipping contest with an auction to follow. A team from Alaska came to represent the Far North and did not take last place. The winning team shot a blistering 13 under par for a score of 59. The real winners were the children at the Hohidiai School. This event raised $ 10,625 for the construction of the Hohidiai Elementary School in Tobelo. We have reported many times about the progress of the school. It is situated on six beautiful acres near the city of Tobelo on the island of Halmahera. The school master plan shows 15 buildings.  So far we have cleared the property , built a road about half a mile long, installed electricity and water and completed two 2,500 sq ft buildings. We have also begun the construction of the third and forth buildings. This is going to be a wonderful place of learning for hundreds of children.  We want to thank Jim and his wife Kathy for the hard work and kindness for our children. There will be a team in Indonesia in November that will be working on the septic system for the school. This is a huge project but it has to be done. Thanks for all your support. Next year the Fall Classic is scheduled for August 22, 2020. Consider joining us for a day of great fun for an opportunity to bless the children of Hohidiai.
