Traveling
Rain–tornadoes–scorching heat–B-2 bombers–amazing people were all a part of the recent trip I took to Illinois, Missouri, Arizona and Idaho. The best part of the month long trip was meeting some amazing people. The meeting in the living room of my friends, David and Valarie, was how it all began. Followed by the best time with Stan, Rosann, P.J. and the friends at Koke Mill. We had lots of laughs and the interest was strong for our new school. There was a very special time at the Gate with Steve and the families there. All these people made the time amazing in Illinois.
In Missouri–the big B-2 bombers would take off and land at the base in Warrensburg. It was impressive seeing the oddly shaped planes go overhead. The people at Warrensburg were even more impressive. I will cherish the memories with Bob, Susie, Rob and Victoria. Benjamin made the entire trip worthwhile–the three hours I got to spend with him at the Kansas Correctional Facility was extra special. I felt really blessed to meet and spent quality time with the people from Life. Charlie told me about his life saving heart transplant–he is a miracle. It was warm in Missouri but I was not ready for Arizona at 108 degrees when I arrived.
Heat, heat and more heat in Phoenix. Caleb, my son, and Mikki made me feel so welcome. The days with them and the rest of the clan was great. Caleb had decided on accepting a new job. I was so proud of his mature outlook on his situation and future.
The final stop was dropping into Idaho to see Greg, Jeanette and Hunter. Coffee with Darrell on Thursday was just a chance to dream and see new doors open. Darrell has been a friend of mine for many years and we always seem to pick up where we left off. I can’t thank Greg and Jeanette enough for being such good hosts–they are like family and it really made the end of a month of travel much easier.
I am back in Alaska for a couple days getting prepared to go to Ohio, Arizona, Oregon and Northern California in the next three weeks. Back on the road to meet more amazing people and see more doors open for the work in Indonesia.
